More about Bree

Bree Fram is a retired US Space Force colonel, astronautical engineer, author, and speaker. Over her 23 years in uniform, she deployed to Iraq and Qatar, helped stand up the Space Force as a separate service, and was the first openly transgender officer selected for and promoted to colonel in the US military. She came out publicly in 2016, on the day the military first lifted its transgender service ban and was forced into retirement in 2025 under a renewed ban—a moment she turned into a 2026 run for Congress in Northern Virginia, ending her campaign when the Virginia Supreme Court invalidated the state’s new congressional maps.

Bree is co-editor of With Honor and Integrity and With Valor and Visibility and co-author of Forging Queer Leaders. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Military Times, and she has been featured by NPR, PBS NewsHour, BBC, and MSNOW. A 2024 Out100 honoree, she speaks nationally on leadership, service, and inclusion, and lives in Northern Virginia with her family.

Pre-registration recommended due to seating capacity. Donations accepted at the door.
